Noveu alongside MijnBureau and DAWO
The Dutch government is building its own sovereign workplace (source 1). Your data and backups are stored in a Hetzner data centre in Falkenstein (Germany). Cloudflare (US) sits at the edge of the network. Available on request, in a pilot of 30 days.
What the government is building itself
In July 2026, three ICT service providers of the central government received a joint assignment: SSC-ICT, DICTU and DUO-ICT. Together they are developing a sovereign digital working environment for the central government. In doing so, they build on MijnBureau and DAWO. (source 1)
The aim is to depend less on a small number of large technology suppliers. For that, the central government chooses open source, and stores data as much as possible in its own data centres or with sovereign European cloud solutions. (source 1, 2)
Municipalities are taking part too. Four municipalities are testing a Linux workplace with MijnBureau, together with the VNG (the Association of Netherlands Municipalities), BZK and SSC-ICT. That pilot runs until the end of 2026. (source 3, 4)
